Modifiers
A Modifier is an object that has no geometry of its own: it changes the geometry of the objects placed inside it in the hierarchy.
The original stays intact and stays editable. Turning the modifier off or removing it gives the mesh back as it was, and changing the properties of the child redoes the result right away.
Modifiers can be stacked: one inside another applies one over the result of the other, in the order of the hierarchy.
How to use
- Add the modifier with the Add Modifier button on the top bar.
- Drag the objects it should change into it.
- Adjust the properties in the Property Inspector.
Editing the resulting mesh by hand turns the regeneration off: from then on the object counts by the mesh it has, and the inspector warns that the result is out of sync with the properties.
In this section
- SolidifyGives thickness to a surface with no volume.
- DisplacerPushes the vertices from an image or from noise.
- Polygon ReductionSimplifies the mesh while keeping the silhouette.
- ShearSlants the mesh, sliding each layer over the one below.
- BendBends the mesh into an arc along an axis.
- TaperNarrows or widens the mesh along an axis.
- SquashCompresses the mesh on one axis, fattening it on the others.
- MirrorDuplicates the mesh reflected, with the seam welded.
- BevelRounds the sharp edges of the mesh.
- BlendWelds the children into a single mesh, with the junction rounded.
- CollisionDeforms the mesh where another object touches it.
- TrussReplaces a volume with industrial beams and diagonal braces.
- Edge WearAdds geometry and irregular chips near sharp edges.
