Displacer

Pushes the vertices from an image or from noise.

The Displacer moves each vertex along the normal, by the amount a map indicates: light pushes outwards, dark pushes inwards. The map can be a texture of the project or procedural noise generated on the spot.

It only works where there are vertices to move, so the child needs subdivision. A plane with a single face stays flat.

  • Displacement map: The map that drives the displacement.
  • Strength: Maximum distance of the displacement.
  • Midpoint: The tone that stays in place. Above it pushes outwards, below it pushes inwards.
  • Scale, Offset U and Offset V: Size and position of the map over the surface.
  • Invert: Flips the direction of the displacement.
