Artboard
The Artboard mode builds paper sized sheets with what you modeled: project views, texts, dimensions, tables, charts, shapes and images. It is meant for presentations, floor plans, architectural projects and technical documentation.
Boards
The boards are in the bar at the bottom of the screen. Click to open one, double click the name to rename it and drag to change the order. A right click sets up the sheet, duplicates, exports or deletes.
Tools
Pick a tool in the bar on the left and drag on the sheet to draw.
- Select (V): Selects, moves, resizes and rotates.
- Text (T), Shape (R), Line (L), Arrow (A) and Table (G): Texts, shapes, lines, arrows and tables.
- Dimension (D): Measures the distance between two points.
- Cartesian plane (P): Draws a Cartesian plane, with axes, grid and numbers.
- Chart (C): Column, bar, line, area, pie or donut chart, with the data edited in a grid in the panel.
- Model view: Places a view of objects from the project.
- Graphic scale: Places a graphic scale under the selected view, or the last view with a scale, and follows its scale. Without a view, it starts at 1:50.
- Image: Places a PNG, JPEG, WebP or SVG image. You can also drag the file onto the sheet. An SVG stays vector and is sharp at any zoom.
The panel on the right shows the fields of the selection, in the Design tab, and the list of the board's elements, in the Elements tab.
Model views
A view shows the chosen objects and follows the changes to the model. Double click it to rotate the model. In orthographic views the scale is real, such as 1:50, and the dimensions drawn over them show the true measurement. Fit to box frames the whole model again.
A view can also have a cut. The floor plan hides everything above a height, as in a floor plan drawing. The vertical section comes ready from whoever drew it, such as the sheet of a section made in Architecture mode.
Templates
A template holds what repeats across boards, such as the title block, the frame and the logo. Create one with Save as template, in a board's right click menu, or from scratch on the Artboards page of the dashboard.
A board created from a template follows its changes. You can change any element that came from the template on the board itself, and the rest keeps following it.
- Restore from template: The element goes back to how it is in the template.
- Restore everything from the template: Everything that came from the template goes back to how it is there.
- Detach from template: The board stops following the template.
Templates do not take model views.
Without opening the model
The Artboards page of the dashboard lists the templates and the projects with boards, and opens only the boards, without loading the model. Open in the 3D editor takes you to the full project. Import, on that page, turns each board of a .tnb file into a template.
Shortcuts
- Arrows: Move the selection, and with Shift move it further.
- Enter: Edits the selected element. Esc cancels and clears the selection.
- Delete: Deletes the selection.
- Page Up and Page Down: Go to the previous and next board.
An agent connected through MCP also builds and exports boards.
Menus
- New template: Creates a blank board.
- Import: Brings the boards of a
.tnbfile to the end of the list. - Export: Exports all boards as PDF, as PNG or as a
.tnbfile to take to another project. The PDF stays sharp at any zoom. A board's right click menu exports only that board.
