Cone

A circular base closing into a single tip.

Cone
Cone

The Cone has a circular base and a tip. Unlike a cylinder with a thin top, here the top is a single vertex, with no cap.

  • Radius: Radius of the base, in meters.
  • Height: Distance from the base to the tip, on the Y axis.
  • Radial Seg.: Number of sides of the base. With three, the cone becomes a pyramid with a triangular base; with four, with a square base.

Topology

The body is made of triangles, because they all converge on the tip, and the base is a fan of triangles around the center.

The tip is a vertex shared by every triangle of the body, which makes smooth shading look odd at the top. In low poly models, flat shading solves it.
